What You Have To Do


  • Cut the aloe leaf diagonally and extract the gel present inside it.
  • Apply some of this fresh gel on the face and massage it in, so it is absorbed into the skin.
  • Leave the gel overnight.
  • Store the remaining gel in an air-tight container in a cool place.

 Oils For Dry Skin

(a) Coconut Oil For Dry Skin

Simple to procure and use, coconut oil does wonders to replenish and lock in the natural moisture of the skin.  Baby oil and vegetable oil can be used similarly.

You Will Need

Virgin coconut oil

What You Need To Do


  • Apply coconut oil on dry areas of your skin and leave it on. It will get absorbed by the skin.


*Apply coconut oil once or twice a day, as needed.

 Almond Oil For Dry Skin

Almond oil has been used for centuries to treat dry skin. It is moisturizing and thus makes your skin smooth and supple. An added advantage of using this oil is its ability to improve your complexion and skin tone.

You Will Need

4 tablespoons sweet almond oil
2-3 drops geranium essential oil

What You Have To Do


  • Transfer the almond oil into a sterilized glass bottle.
  • Add the geranium essential oil and shake the bottle to combine.
  • Use this mixture in place of your moisturizer.
  • Other oils that can be used instead of geranium oil include rosehip oil, flaxseed oil, and peppermint oil.

 Vitamin E Oil

Vitamin E oil is  rich in antioxidants that also helps clear the skin. This oil battles skin aging, scaly skin, and other related dry skin problems

You Will Need

1-2 vitamin E capsules

What You Need To Do


  • Pierce the capsules and empty the oil into a bowl.
  • Apply this to the affected areas and massage for a few minutes.


Mustard Oil For Dry Skin

The fats present in mustard oil hydrate and nourish the skin, making it soft and supple

You Will Need

1-2 drops mustard oil


What You Have To Do


  • Lightly warm up the oil in between your fingertips and apply on the dry patches of your face.
  • Leave it on overnight.
  • Some alternatives for mustard oil, if you don’t have some handy, are hemp oil, sesame oil, jasmine oil, keri oil, and tamanu oil.
  • Repeat this once or twice a day, preferably every night for a deep moisturizing effect overnight.
  • Leave the oil overnight.
  • Rinse your face as usual in the morning.
  • Apply this oil overnight all over your face or on specific problem areas.


 Glycerin For Dry Skin

Glycerin works wonders not just on the dry skin but also chapped lips. It is a wonderful humectant and emollient that locks in the skin’s moisture .

You Will Need

1 teaspoon glycerin
1 tablespoon rose water

What You Need To Do


  • Combine glycerin with rose water and apply on the dry patches of your skin.
  • Leave the glycerin mix on for a few hours.
  • If you feel that it is too tacky, you can rinse it off after an hour or so.

 Vaseline For Dry Skin

Vaseline is basically composed of petroleum jelly. This ingredient is used to lock in the moisture and prevent water loss from the skin .   It can be a little greasy, hence it is best used as an overnight treatment.

  • Take a small amount of the jelly, massage the entire face.
  • It is best if you leave this on overnight. In case you find it a little too tacky, leave it on for an hour or so before wiping the excess off with a tissue or washcloth.

Multani Mitti For Dry Skin

 multani mitti is often recommended for oily skin types because of its ability to absorb the excess oil.But the clay also soothes the skin and has a cooling effect on dry and irritated skin . Using it in combination with the right ingredients can help to get rid of dry skin in just a few applications.


You Will Need

2 tablespoons multani mitti (Fuller’s earth)
1 tablespoon cucumber juice
1 teaspoon honey OR 1 tablespoon milk

What You Have To Do


  • Mix everything together to get a thick paste. Adjust the consistency with some water as required.
  • Apply this as a face pack and let it dry for 15 minutes.
  • Rinse it off with plain water.

 Rose Water For Dry Skin
